Prison board reviews May population statistics; board thanks warden ahead of retirement

The Carbon County Prison Board reviewed the warden’s monthly report for May and approved the report by voice vote.
The warden reported six male admissions and 12 female admissions for the month, 56 new releases and 18 female releases for a combined total of 74 releases during the reporting period. The board was told the daily population for the period averaged 152. The current population as of May 31 was 130 males and 19 females, for a total of 149. The warden also reported total admissions year-to-date of 389 and multiple medical transports and hospital-duty days.
Board members voiced appreciation for the warden’s service. Several speakers thanked the warden for his leadership and contributions to the facility; one board member noted the retirement was on the commissioners’ agenda and said the Board of Commissioners would take action on the retirement at its next meeting. The personnel report was also moved, seconded and approved by vote.
There was also a brief record that an executive session for personnel was held on Monday, June 9. No further formal direction was recorded in the minutes.
