Board members presented a recognition to Mitchell Williams at the June 18 meeting as he concluded his term on the Enlarged City School District of Middletown Board of Education. The board read a certificate that thanked Williams for service as a school board member from 2021–2025.
Colleagues praised Williams's leadership on the district’s diversity committee and his community work, including the Middletown boxing club. President Estrada and fellow board members described Williams's personal story and community contributions and invited family members and members of the diversity committee to speak. Linda, representing the diversity committee, said Williams "brought heart, insight, and unwavering commitment to equity" and noted the committee's work on translation and interpretation services.
Williams spoke briefly to thank the community and said he would continue to be involved. The board presented him with a certificate and flowers and announced plans to continue inviting him to serve on committees.
