Middletown Board approves personnel, contracts, SRO agreements and other routine items, votes unanimous

The Enlarged City School District of Middletown Board of Education approved multiple personnel, financial and contractual items during its June 18 meeting, with each motion recorded as passing 8-0.

The board voted to adopt administrative and personnel memoranda, accept financial items and approve contracts that included school resource officer (SRO) agreements with the Town of Wallkill and the City of Middletown for the 2025–26 school year. The board also approved memoranda of agreement with directors and supervisors, the Middletown Educational Clerical Association and agreements with non‑affiliated employees. A revised board meeting calendar for 2025–26 and a resolution nominating Everett R. Dyer for an award were approved.

Bill Bartlett, speaking during the consent items, described two change orders listed as credits tied to cancelled contracts for site work at Presidential Park and the Field House; he said the entries were credits now but cautioned the board that the credits could convert to debits when work is performed. "So the 2 change orders tonight are for site improvements at Presidential Park and the Field House, and they are both for credit for work not performed due to cancellation of the contracts," Bartlett said.

All procedural approvals recorded a vote of "Motion carries 8 0." The board recorded movers and seconders on the public record for each item; the meeting transcript lists the member who moved and the member who seconded for each motion.

The board did not take public comment during the session; the public participation period opened after the recognitions but no speakers signed in before the comment window closed.
