Public works: Woodhaven closed out, Ocean View stabilization underway; Green Veil Road paving began

Melissa Flick, public works director for the Town of James Island, told the council that the Woodhaven project is complete, Ocean View remains open pending vegetation stabilization, and Quail Run will require two failed pipes under the roadway to be slip-lined before the road can be fully repaired.
Flick said the town has been coordinating with Charleston County on repairs that require county work and that a biweekly meeting with county staff was canceled recently for end-of-fiscal-year reasons. She reported ongoing ditch and culvert cleaning across several neighborhoods (Fort Johnson Estates, Mount Vernon, Chandler and Pauline) and replacement of two driveway aprons where pipes were also replaced.
The town participated in a vacuum-truck demonstration and expects a smaller vac truck model that does not require a commercial driver's license to become available for local purchase. Paving began on Green Veil Road in June. Flick also reminded residents of a Hurricane Awareness Expo with county partners and that the town will staff a booth at the event.
No formal council action was required for the public works update; Flick answered questions from council members and staff recorded follow-up items for coordination with Charleston County.
