WAUSAU, Wis. — The Wausau Board of Public Works on June 17 approved several routine contract payments, cleared three Portland cement concrete licenses conditioned on corrected insurance certificates, and voted to go into closed session under the Wisconsin Open Meetings Law to review contractor prequalification statements and claims.
The board first approved the minutes of its June 10, 2025, meeting following a motion by Board member 2 and a second from Board member 1; the vote was recorded as “Aye.”
The board then approved pay estimate No. 4 for the 2024 Riverfront Trail project, awarding Ron Christiansen Trucking a payment of $1,615. The payment was recommended by project inspector Kurt DeBoer, according to the meeting record. Board member 1 made the motion to approve pay estimate No. 4; Board member 2 seconded and the board voted “Aye.”
Next the board approved final payment and release of retainage for the sidewalk repair project to Patricus Construction in the amount of $5,000. The project inspector reported the restoration work was complete. The motion to approve the final payment was made by Board member 1, seconded by Board member 2, and approved with an “Aye” vote.
The board then considered Portland cement concrete contractor licenses for Kaye Barrons Contracting LLC, Antler Concrete LLC and Pave the Way LLC. Board member 2 moved to approve the licenses; Board member 1 stipulated that approval was conditioned upon correction of each firm's certificate of liability insurance so the certificate names the same insured who applied for the license. A staff member confirmed the insurance correction requirement. The motion passed on an “Aye” vote.
Finally, the board voted to enter a closed session under Wis. Stat. §19.85(1)(d) to deliberate on prequalification statements for the 2025 Department of Public Works overhead door replacement and under Wis. Stat. §19.85(1)(g) to deliberate on claims. Board member 1 introduced the motion; Board member 2 seconded and the board voted “Aye.”
No public debate or dissent on the recorded motions was reflected in the meeting excerpt. The meeting record shows each motion was seconded and approved by an affirmative vote.
