Commissioners reported June 18 that Thurston County received multiple recognitions from the National Association of Counties (NACo) 2025 achievement awards program. The county said the Fix‑It Fair won best-in-category in the volunteer section, and many other county programs received honorable mentions or achievement recognitions.
County programs named in the announcement included the habitat conservation plan, suicide prevention QPR program, elections–public transit partnership, auditors’ election security enhancements, passport fair, voting access efforts at libraries, public health communications, noxious weeds landowner assistance, fetal infant mortality review, trail preservation/rehabilitation, Medical Reserve Corps recruitment and retention initiative, health-habits-for-food program, public health workforce program, neighborhood traffic calming program, water and sewer utility consolidation work, tax title community mailings, and the Thurston County resource hub. County staff said they will present awards to departments after the county receives the physical awards from NACo.
Ending: commissioners congratulated staff and asked that departments be recognized in a future business meeting when awards are received.
