Thurston County staff told the Board of County Commissioners June 18 that Intercity Transit will present its study on whether a roundabout is needed on a county-owned road near Martin Way and U.S. 101.
The item originates from public comments received in 2024 and concerns a stretch of county-owned road in the Lacey area where some constituents oppose a roundabout. County staff said they expect Intercity Transit to present the study at an upcoming meeting after the summer recess and that the county manager’s office is coordinating a briefing for commissioners.
Staff did not provide engineering conclusions at the June 18 meeting; commissioners were only notified that a presentation and staff briefing are forthcoming. Commissioner comments noted constituent opposition in Lacey and neighboring cities’ interests.
Ending: staff will schedule the Intercity Transit presentation for a post-recess meeting and provide commissioners with the study and any associated traffic analysis prior to that briefing.
