Kingsburg — The Kingsburg City Council on June 18 adopted a resolution ordering the levy and collection of assessments for the city’s Landscape and Lighting Assessment District for fiscal year 2025–26. Finance Director Alma Kolado presented the engineers’ report and said the total levy for the district is $116,841, a $2,500 increase from the current fiscal year.
Kolado explained the Landscape and Lighting Act of 1972 authorizes cities to impose assessments on benefited properties to finance construction and maintenance of street landscaping, lighting, traffic signals, parks, sidewalks, and related maintenance. An engineering firm prepared the report that reviewed maintenance, administration, overhead and collection costs; a public hearing notice was published on June 4, 2025, Kolado said.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing, and the council adopted resolution 2025-34 by voice vote. Council members asked staff to confirm whether any public comment had been received after noticing; Kolado said she was not aware of any in response to the published notice.
