County approves donation-for-use agreement for skid steer at Saline County Livestock & Expo Center

The Saline County Commission on June 17 approved a donation-for-use agreement that allows the Saline County Livestock & Expo Center to receive and use a new skid steer donated by Keraco Implement at no cost to the county.
David Flaherty, Livestock and Expo director, told commissioners the county had rented a skid steer for the past three years and that rental costs had fallen from about $1,005 per month to $550 per month. He said Keraco Implement approached the Expo Center in April 2025 and offered to donate the use of a new skid steer, with an initial two-year agreement and the vendor holding first right to continue a donation afterward. County legal counsel reviewed and approved the contract on May 27, 2025, Flaherty said.
Flaherty said the donation would save the farm account approximately $5,500 per year. He also said the donor would receive recognition on a banner and monitor screens at the Ag Hall; Flaherty estimated the value of that advertising at $2,000 annually. Commissioners voted to approve the request; the motion carried by voice vote.
No public opposition was raised at the meeting.
