Klamath County accepts three PLSS corner-service contracts and approves related amendments reducing insurance requirements

Klamath County on June 17 approved multiple contracts and contract amendments for PLSS (Public Land Survey System) corner work and related program administration.
County surveyor staff presented the request for quotes and said eight firms returned bids from a solicitation sent to 11 qualified companies. The board accepted quotes and authorized contracts with Brokamp Land Surveying LLC, Rhine Cross Group LLC and Ward Surveying LLC to provide PLSS corner services for fiscal year 2025'26. Each of the new contracts was described on the record with a fiscal impact "not to exceed $150,000," to be paid from the Corner Restoration Fund; contracts go into effect July 1, 2025 and may be extended for up to two additional one-year terms.
The board also approved amendments to several existing 2024'25 PLSS contracts that reduce professional-liability insurance requirements for contractors who had carried a higher insurance level under prior contract terms. Surveyor staff said the amendments permit eligible contractors to drop the higher insurance without additional payment; these amendments were recorded by motion with no fiscal impact.
Ending: Commissioners voted to approve the new contracts and the insurance-reduction amendments. Staff said additional quotes may be brought forward in future meetings.
