Mike Smith of the Sheriff's Office told commissioners the purchase covers the chassis only; the office plans to reuse the service box from the existing vehicle. Smith said the current truck is at end of life, has received about $5,500 in repairs and would require roughly $30,000 more to fix; the existing diesel engine model is no longer manufactured, which would require a remanufactured engine.
Commissioners recorded the motion to approve the purchase, seconded on the record, and the chair called the vote. The board voted in favor and the motion passed.
