At the June meeting Jackson Public School Board members honored outgoing board member Dr. Ed Seback for his service and approved a rotation of board leadership.
Several members and community leaders praised Dr. Sebacks tenure, citing his role in governance improvements and district stability. "Since joining the board during a pivotal moment in our district's history, Doctor Seback has been an unwavering force for equity and excellence," the superintendent said in prepared remarks recognizing his service.
Board reorganization: The board approved a rotation-style nominations slate that moved Miss Hilliard into the board president position, Miss Thompson into vice president, and Mr. McGuffey to secretary; the motions carried by unanimous voice vote. Board members offered personal tributes and recounted collaborative moments, including resistance to a past state takeover effort and efforts to strengthen district governance.
The board also approved several routine consent and finance items and then recessed for executive-session business. Members said they will continue to call on Dr. Seback as needed though he will no longer sit at the dais.
