Votes at a glance: Lancaster ISD board meeting actions

The Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees recorded the following formal actions during the June meeting.

• Personnel: The board approved administrative personnel recommendations from closed session: the promotion of Dr. James Kimbrell to Assistant Chief of Maintenance and Operations and the promotion of Dr. Damien Gray to Assistant Chief of Human Resources. Both motions were moved, seconded and carried unanimously at the meeting.

• Consent agenda: Trustees approved the consent agenda by motion; the secretary recorded the motion as carried unanimously.

• STEM grant acceptance: The board accepted a $2,000,000 grant from the Texas Instruments Foundation to support the district STEM for All initiative (agenda item 11.1). Motion by Mr. Jones, second by Ms. Cortez; motion carried.

• Confidentiality agreement: The board approved a motion authorizing the Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees to sign a confidentiality agreement statement, amended to include legal-code references; recorded vote: 5 in favor, 1 opposed (motion carried 5–1).

• TASB/Region endorsements and delegate: The board endorsed Robert L. Selders Jr. for TASB Region 10 position A and Regina Harris for TASB Region 10 position B; both endorsements passed with recorded votes of 5 in favor, 1 opposed. Trustee Nichols was approved as the delegate and Trustee Cluis as alternate for the TASB delegate assembly.

• Committee volunteers: Trustees Cortez, Nichols and Mora volunteered to serve on the House Bill 6 handbook committee to work with district staff on recommended discipline/handbook changes. That committee formation was recorded by staff; no roll-call vote was required at the meeting.
