Perryton ISD trustees approve remaining safety window film, adopt Policy 125; minutes approved

The Perryton ISD Board of Trustees approved three routine items during its meeting: minutes from the previous regular meeting, the remaining safety window film installation and purchase, and Policy Update 125.

The board unanimously approved the consent agenda item to adopt the minutes from its previous regular meeting (motion moved and seconded; motion carries, 7-0). Trustees then considered the purchase and installation of remaining safety window film at district facilities. Presenters told the board the district's vulnerability assessor required a caulking detail around all film installations; staff recommended awarding the installation to a contractor whose price the district considered reasonable and to pay from previously allocated safety funds. Superintendent Brown said the work was required for compliance: “we have to do this to be in compliance. Yes.” The board moved, seconded and voted 7-0 to approve the work.

Trustees also considered Policy Update 125, a set of mostly technical and local clarifications drafted by TASB attorneys and edited locally. One board member noted that a line assigning the board authority to provide clerical assistance had been reworded because assigning staff is a superintendent responsibility. After limited discussion the board approved Policy Update 125 (motion moved and seconded; motion carries, 7-0).
