Lake Forest approves two-year Chamber of Commerce agreement capped at $88,461

The Lake Forest City Council on June 17 approved a two-year contractual services agreement with the Lake Forest Chamber of Commerce authorizing the mayor to sign and the city clerk to attest to the agreement. City staff said the contract will not exceed $88,461.45, with $42,735 allocated for fiscal year 202526#x2013;26 and a consumer-price-index adjustment for 202626#x2013;27.
Economic development staff explained the Chamber's role in running signature events and business support programs. Adrian Grijalva, the city's economic development and housing manager, told the council the Chamber has hosted community and business events since 2010, and that last year the Chamber conducted 72 events including grand openings, concert beer and wine gardens, and the State of the City. Staff recommended a two-year term to align the agreement with the city's two-year budget cycle and reduce annual administrative burden.
Steve Smith, identified as board chairman and a local business owner, addressed the council in support of the contract and noted the Chamber's event history and volunteer support, including CEO Mary Visconti's leadership. Council members praised the Chamber and staff; Mayor Pro Tem Pequeno and other council members highlighted the Chamber's role in assisting new businesses and promoting Lake Forest.
The motion to approve the two-year contractual services agreement passed unanimously. Staff said it will return with event-specific details for the upcoming "Taste of Lake Forest" on Aug. 15, including ticketing information.
