District gives construction update: new PDC, industrial arts building, Harbor turf and Tyson renovations progressing

District staff provided trustees with a progress update on multiple facility projects, from the near‑complete Professional Development Center (PDC) to renovations at Tyson Elementary and construction of a new district industrial arts building.
The PDC upstairs floor is nearly finished and will hold more than 400 people; finish work and technology installation were underway. The Industrial Arts Building (the Old Lock Supply site) is receiving masonry work, interior safe‑room ("hardened space") work, electrical gear and overhead ductwork; the site may open in phases as certificates of occupancy allow. Harbour High School's multipurpose field received new turf installed by GeoSurfaces, netting behind the goal, a new black perimeter fence, and new concrete infield areas intended to reduce maintenance; the district is also resurfacing the track and installing new gates. Tyson Elementary is undergoing interior renovations including bathroom replacements, asbestos abatement by specialists, new exterior windows, and flooring work; district staff emphasized they are using professional abatement contractors for disturbed asbestos and are not permitting unqualified in‑house abatement due to liability.
Trustees were invited to tour projects and suggested a possible board meeting at the PDC in July if scheduling allows. District staff said work is on schedule for summer completion where possible and that some spaces may open in sections for the school year.
