Denton County names Denton Bicycle Center a heritage business after 54 years in operation

Denton County Commissioners Court unanimously adopted a resolution recognizing Denton Bicycle Center as a Denton County heritage business on the basis of being in operation for more than 50 years.
Kelsey, representing the Denton County Office of History and Culture, presented the program to the court and said the heritage-business designation recognizes local businesses in continuous operation for at least 50 years. "We're excited to recognize Denton Bicycle Center as a Denton County heritage business," Kelsey said.
Joe Holland, who founded Denton Bicycle Center in June 1971, attended the court and accepted the recognition. "When I started the business, wheels were actually square — that's how long I've been in the business," Holland said, noting the store has remained at the same address and continues to serve multiple generations of customers.
The court read the resolution into the record and approved it on a motion that was seconded by Commissioner Williams. The motion carried unanimously.
