Town Manager announces summer community roundtables; Select Board appoints subcommittee on goals and finalizes meeting schedule

The Town Manager reported to the Select Board on June 17 that she will host four community roundtable events this summer to gather public input and begin setting priorities. The sessions will be every other Thursday beginning July 17: July 17 at Endicott Park (natural-resources topics), July 31 at North Shore Community College (DPW/trash/roads/resiliency), August 14 at the Peabody Institute Library (library, economic development and downtown), and August 28 at the Senior Center (community services, veterans and public health). The manager said event times will vary but be held in the evening generally between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., and the town will advertise through the website, newsletters, flyers and partner organizations.
Separately, the Select Board appointed two members — Dan Bennett and Mike Bean — to serve as a board subcommittee that will work with the Town Manager in August to draft goals and objectives for the manager’s first year; the subcommittee will report back to the full board in September. The chair asked colleagues to send suggested priorities to the subcommittee and town staff.
The board also finalized its 2025 meeting schedule: members agreed there will be no regular July meeting unless urgent business arises (and the clerk will advertise deadlines accordingly), noted the September meeting date change from September 2 to September 9 and confirmed a 6:30 p.m. start time for future Select Board meetings (the board said it will revisit start time later if needed). Liaison assignments to town committees were announced as well.
The manager and board members urged residents to attend roundtables and to use the events as opportunities to provide input on strategic-plan priorities and town services.
