The Select Board on June 17 appointed two residents to the Zoning Board of Appeals and approved several reappointments to town committees.
Chris Dembowski, a longtime town-meeting member and second-generation builder in Danvers, was appointed as a full voting member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for a term ending January 2028. Kevin Barich (referred to in discussion as Kevin Berwich/Barich), who sought service after running for Select Board, was appointed as an alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals with a term also running to January 2028.
The board discussed the ZBA role and recusal considerations for construction professionals serving as alternates; members said alternates may participate in discussion but vote only when seated to replace an absent regular member. The board member making the principal appointment noted Dembowski’s construction experience as a reason for selecting him as a full member while suggesting Barich could serve and learn as an alternate.
Separately the Select Board reappointed Marilyn Hazel to the Board of Registrars for a three-year term to January 2028. The board also moved to reappoint Paul Pollock to the Human Rights and Inclusion Committee for a one-year term ending January 2026; members thanked volunteers and noted the town relies on volunteers for committee service.
Votes were taken by roll call for each appointment; where recorded the ZBA full-member vote carried by a board majority. Board members urged applicants and incumbents to attend meetings and thanked them for volunteering.
