Summary
Committee members asked the council auditor for follow‑up information after staff said only 0.2% of construction and demolition (C&D) disposal came from out of county, and after members reviewed downtown trash pickup costs showing $720,000 in costs versus $365,000 in revenue.

At the June 17 Transportation, Energy and Utilities Committee meeting, council members asked for additional information on construction and demolition (C&D) disposal fees and downtown trash service costs after preliminary figures were discussed.
Committee members asked Edward Linsky, the council auditor, to circulate follow‑up information to committee members. The chair summarized the two main takeaways requested: an analysis of how much C&D tonnage comes from outside Duval County and an accounting of downtown trash pickup costs. The chair said one figure to note was that only “point 2%” of C&D tonnage came from out of town, and later in the discussion staff noted downtown trash operations cost roughly $720,000 while generating about $365,000 in revenue.
The committee did not adopt policy changes at the meeting but directed the auditor to email the requested breakdowns and cost analyses to committee members for a future TEU discussion.
No formal vote was taken on the solid waste follow‑up; members flagged the items for further study and recommended staff provide the requested data before the next committee meeting.
