Wauwatosa committee moves into closed session on property tax litigation involving Freighter Health

The vice chair read language citing the authority to convene under Wisconsin statute 19.85(1)(g) “for the purpose of conferring with legal counsel for the governmental body who is rendering oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted by the body with respect to litigation in which it is or is likely to become involved.” The chair and committee discussed that they would not reconvene in open session because negotiations were ongoing.
A motion to move into closed session was made and the chair called the vote; the chair announced the motion passed (announced as 6 to 0). The committee left the public meeting and did not provide further public details at the time of adjournment.
