Committee makes Kavanaugh Avenue no-parking trial permanent after coordination with homeowner

The Wauwatosa Transportation Affairs Committee unanimously approved making permanent a no-parking-anytime zone on Kavanaugh Avenue adjacent to an alley, after staff said they had worked with the homeowner on sign placement.
Mike May of the engineering department told the committee the signs originally posted during a temporary trial were shifted slightly to preserve space for at least one vehicle for the homeowner while still giving Department of Public Works crews room to operate. “We worked with the homeowner…our recommendation reflects what we worked out with the homeowner as well while still accommodating the DPW vehicles,” May said.
No members of the public spoke against the change during the meeting. Alder Lewis moved approval and Alder Brandon seconded; the motion passed by voice vote with no opposition.
Engineering staff noted the action formalizes a temporary arrangement observed during a 90-day trial. The committee’s recorded approval will lead to updated signage and permanent ordinance language reflecting the placement agreed with the property owner.
