Marion County commissioners unanimously revoked two special-use permits tied to a food-truck park in the Marion Oaks area on June 17 after staff reported the operator had not completed conditions required by the permits.
Growth Services told the board the temporary site had been operating but had not met multiple SUP conditions: permanent restroom facilities, site-plan submission and permanent utility connections were among the outstanding requirements. The applicant said a contingency to buy an adjacent 2-acre parcel that would have supported the permanent site fell through; the operator said he is still seeking an alternate parcel, has temporary restroom trailers and a fire-hydrant meter in place, and requested time to relocate.
The board revoked the SUP for the now-unavailable 2-acre lot and revoked the temporary SUP for the active site, giving the operator 60 days to clear the site. Commissioners said the decision was necessary because the permits had compliance conditions that were not met within the period the board had previously given. Commissioners urged staff to help the operator identify appropriate parcels and to provide clear guidance about the permits and infrastructure required for a future food-truck park.
Staff will monitor compliance and report back; the operator said he intends to continue looking for a permanent site and thanked commissioners for past consideration.
