Borough to direct $30,958.82 in state Community Assistance Program funds to two communities

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Finance Committee introduced ordinance 20 25-13, which would direct previously appropriated state grant funds in the amount of $30,958.82 and approve projects to be completed under the 2024-25 Community Assistance Program. The hearing is scheduled for July 8, 2025.
Miss Gear, a borough staff member, told the committee the ordinance would allocate funds to two communities that did not have fiduciaries identified at the grant period's outset. "In the process of, connecting with communities for the upcoming, community assistance program grants, we've been able to reach out to the fiduciaries for the communities of Nanwalic and the Gallegos. And they have, identified that they are interested in being fiduciaries for the fiscal year 25 funding," she said.
The mayor and the committee had no questions during the June 17 introduction. The ordinance will proceed to a public hearing on July 8.
