Sunnyvale staff announces steering committee for comprehensive plan update

Ms. Hinn, a town staff member, told the Sunnyvale Planning and Zoning Commission on June 18 that the town is beginning an update of its comprehensive land‑use plan and will ask the Town Council to consider forming a temporary steering committee.
She said the consultant selected for the update recommended a steering committee composed of two Town Council members, two Planning and Zoning Commission members and about eight community members to be appointed by the council. Ms. Hinn said she will present that composition at the Town Council meeting on July 14 and left a one‑page informational document with commissioners for review.
The steering committee would be in addition to commissioners' regular duties, Ms. Hinn said, and would be a temporary body that would dissolve after the comprehensive plan is adopted. She told commissioners to review the document and consider how much time they could commit and which two commissioners they would recommend to represent the commission on the steering committee.
The announcement came during the meeting's public‑comment period; no formal action was taken by the Planning and Zoning Commission on the steering committee at that meeting.
