The Board of Selectmen voted Feb. 10 to release the $45,200 performance bond posted for Carly’s Way after highway supervisor Mr. Garlington inspected the road and recommended full release.
Selectmen noted the roadway was accepted by the town on Feb. 6, 2023. "As part of that, a performance bond in the amount of 45,200 shall be posted to the benefit of the town for a term of 2 years," a board member recounted, citing the minutes from the earlier acceptance. The highway supervisor informed the planning board and selectmen that he had monitored the street throughout the bond term and would support releasing the entire amount.
A selectman moved to accept the release of the performance bond, including accrued interest; another selectman seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote.
The board instructed staff to process the release according to town procedures. No members raised ongoing concerns about the roadway’s condition during the discussion.
Background: The bond was posted at the time the town accepted the roadway in 2023 and was held for two years to guarantee construction and maintenance standards. Highway staff reported no outstanding issues at the completion of that period.
