The Midlothian Planning and Zoning Commission approved a preliminary plat for Bluebonnet Hills, a subdivision covering about 414.01 acres north of U.S. 287, west of Highway 67 and south of Alder Road.
Staff and commissioners described the plat as totaling just over 1,000 lots. During discussion a commissioner asked whether the developer had included a school site and whether the school district had been consulted; staff replied they have been in talks with the adjacent Lakesong development to the northwest, which includes several school sites, but said they were not aware of direct conversations with the school district about this specific plat. The commission then voted to approve the plat "as presented," and the chair declared the motion unanimous.
The plat was removed from the consent docket for separate consideration at the requester’s motion; the consent agenda (covering other preliminary plats) was approved with that exception earlier in the meeting. Staff said the plat meets the city’s required minimum lot dimensions and setbacks as presented in the preliminary materials; final engineering and plat documents will be completed during subsequent review stages before final plat approval.
