The Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission on June 13 adopted a resolution honoring Kristen Riggs for 25 years of service to Metro Cable.
Kristen Riggs began with the commission as a programming coordinator on May 15, 2000 and was promoted to production director in August 2014, the commission recited during the meeting. The resolution credited Riggs with leading thousands of local-government broadcasts, helping implement closed captioning and developing an archives of agency meetings. Commissioners noted her mentorship of production assistants and staff and her role in improving public meeting accessibility.
Chair Brown and other commissioners moved and seconded the resolution; the commission adopted it by voice vote. Riggs received the resolution and said she preferred to be "behind the scenes" but thanked former supervisors Donna Welborn and Bob Davidson for opportunities and praised her colleagues: "I'm just so grateful to have been able to work here this this long... I'm grateful to be surrounded by wonderful staff, competent crew, and, of course, all the clerks that we work with." The commission presented a reclaimed-wood framed resolution and took a group photograph.
