EDTA approves $4,750 contract amendment to phase Aquatic Center master plan

The Pryor Creek Economic Development Trust Authority voted to approve a $4,750 expenditure to update the Aquatic Center master plan and add phasing options, the authority said at its June 16 meeting.

The pool task force sought an updated master plan to break the project into phases after consultant feedback that an entire build-out requires multiple assumptions about poolhouse, equipment rooms and costs. EDTA staff reported $4,000 had already been allocated to the project; the additional $750 brings the total for the updated planning work to $4,750.

Mike, a member of the pool task force, told trustees the task force used prior paid studies and data to inform the business plan and that the consultant PDG can produce the final business plan within about 30 to 45 days after the update. “Once this is done and we get that through PDG, we’re looking at 30 to 45 days before the final business plan is ready to be presented to the EDTA and then we can take the recommendation on to city council,” Mike said.

Action: A motion to spend $4,750 to update the Aquatic Center master plan passed on an oral roll-call vote with Anderson, Swordall, Moore and Miller recorded as voting yes.

Why it matters: Trustees emphasized ensuring the community understands the full cost of building an aquatic center and the need to phase work to make the project financially manageable. The updated plan will be used to inform EDTA recommendations to Pryor Creek City Council.

What’s next: PDG will complete the updated master plan and deliver a business plan for EDTA review; staff indicated the plan will subsequently be considered by city council.
