Commission briefed on Moorhead sculpture, video series and sidewalk stamps; approves agenda and minutes

Commission staff provided three project updates at the Sept. 15 Moorhead Arts and Culture Commission meeting and the commission completed routine procedural votes.
Ethan, commission staff, said work to finalize the public sculpture installation was completed on Aug. 20. The sculpture is installed on the right-of-way just west of 403 Center Avenue, the city’s temporary city hall location, and staff and the artist are coordinating an unveiling event, signage, inclusion in the Moorhead Sculpture Walk and possible pollinator plantings around the site.
On a related media effort, staff said the commission is coordinating a historic video series with Moorhead Community Access Media (MCAM) and the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County. The first episode, staff said, covers the founding of Moorhead in Clay County and is expected to be viewable to the public “sometime here in the near future”; staff are exploring hosting options including city and partner YouTube channels and other platforms and plan marketing outreach to schools and community partners.
Staff also reported that art submission recommendations the commission approved in June were confirmed by Moorhead City Council at its July 14 meeting. Production of missing and new sidewalk stamps is underway with Sign Badger, and staff said they will continue coordinating with OP Construction to install stamps in the Eleventh Street underpass area.
