District outlines Parent Academy schedule and introduces Title I engagement coach

District staff outlined the Parent Academy schedule and introduced a new Title I engagement coach to support parent and family engagement across elementary and middle Title I schools.

Assistant superintendent and parent-engagement staff said Parent Academy sessions will be offered both in person and virtually; upcoming sessions highlighted before the next board meeting include "College Applications 101," a competitive scholarships workshop hosted at Northside High School on Sept. 22, and a session about the new middle-school math curriculum on Sept. 23. Staff encouraged parents to attend sessions at host schools regardless of a student’s enrollment site and noted that materials and session links will remain available online for families.

Director-level staff introduced Robert Rodriguez as the district’s Title I engagement coach. Rodriguez said his role will be to serve as a liaison between Title I schools, families, and community partners; he described planned work to mobilize community support, connect families with learning resources and liaisons, and solicit parent input on topics such as curriculum, end-of-grade testing and how families can support student learning at home.

District staff asked interested parents to email Rodriguez with suggestions or topics and said a program of work will be built over the coming weeks. No formal board action was taken; staff presented the items for information and outreach.
