Aransas County approves participation in national opioid settlements; clerical detail to be corrected
Summary

The Aransas County Commissioners Court approved resolutions authorizing the county judge to execute settlement documents to participate in the new national opioid settlements.
The court voted to adopt resolution R-36-2025 to participate in the Purdue/Sackler settlement and authorized the county judge to sign related settlement documents. A motion to ratify the county judge’s signature on resolution R-37-2025 was also approved; that resolution implements participation in secondary-manufacturer settlement agreements covering eight manufacturers (Alvogen, Amneal, Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Sun, and Zydus) and likewise authorizes the county judge to sign the documents.
During the R-36-2025 discussion a commissioner noted that Exhibit K did not include the county’s address and urged staff to ensure the county’s address and Judge Garza’s name appear correctly in the exhibit before documents are finalized. A county staff member said the county would complete that information and make sure it is held.
Both settlement motions passed on recorded commissioner "aye" votes. No dollar amounts or payment schedules were discussed on the meeting record; the court authorized execution of the settlement participation documents only.
The county will sign the paperwork to participate and staff will complete the missing contact details in the exhibits prior to implementation.
