The Muscatine County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 22 approved two combined preliminary and final plats that subdivide existing agricultural quarter-quarter tracts.
Resolution 0925222501 (White Mountain Subdivision) authorizes a split of approximately 1.83 acres around an existing farmhouse; the remainder of the land remains classified agricultural. County Development Director Eric Furnace said the split was requested because the quarter-quarter had been split previously and the owner sought to separate the farmhouse parcel. The zoning commission recommended approval. The board voted by roll call; members recorded in the roll were recorded as voting aye and the motion carried.
A second approval, recorded in the meeting as resolution 09222502 (recorded name in transcript unclear), creates an approximately 2.68-acre parcel around a new grain bin and dryer operation off Veil Avenue. Furnace said the division was primarily for financing reasons: some farm partners co-own the land while one operator will own the bins, so a separate tax parcel was needed for financing. The zoning commission recommended approval and the board approved the combined preliminary and final plat on a roll-call vote with supervisors recorded as voting aye.
Both actions were described as keeping the property in agricultural zoning; no changes to zoning classifications were made. The votes were formal roll-call actions recorded during the meeting; no public opposition or conditions were noted in the discussion presented to the board.
The approvals authorize the county to record the plats and create the separate tax parcels for the farmhouse and for the grain bin/dryer operation.
