Council approves setback variance for 2903 Gilead Avenue

Council members complimented the building department’s handling of the case and one commissioner said the property — vacant for many years — is being renovated.
Motion to approve the variance was made by Commissioner Frierson and seconded by Commissioner Stackhouse. The council recorded aye votes and the motion carried 5–0.
The council’s action permits the existing setback dimensions on the parcel to remain in place; staff said the work on the property has already included roof and interior work and the renovation was expected to return the structure to marketable condition.
