The Nevada State Board of Cosmetology reviewed a case involving an establishment that offered advanced aesthetic procedures without required licenses and supervision.
Board staff told members the establishment originally licensed for regular aesthetics had displayed and made available advanced aesthetic devices, including microneedling and other equipment requiring an advanced-aesthetician license plus medical supervision under Nevada rules. That prompted a warning in 2022 and a subsequent $2,000 citation in 2024 after inspectors identified devices and advertising for advanced services without appropriate licensure or a supervising medical provider.
Board members were shown inspection photos and copies of the establishment’s online ads. Staff said the company later paid the 2024 citation and submitted an application on June 23 to relicense as an advanced-aesthetics establishment. The petitioner told the board representatives that operations had shifted to medical-office staffing (registered nurses and a medical director) and that the company had taken corrective steps, including closing some programs and removing advertising while they sought proper licensure.
The board voted to accept staff’s recommendation to allow the re-licensing process to proceed; staff will work with the petitioner on next steps. Board discussion noted that the citation will remain on the administrative record even though the applicant paid the fine and has since pursued relicensure. Members stressed the difference between services performed by licensed medical professionals and those that require specific cosmetology board licensing and associated supervisory arrangements.
