EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Board of Parks Commissioners approved a series of contracts, construction actions and routine claims at its regular meeting Wednesday, July 16.
The board voted by voice to approve a consent agenda that included personnel and vendor contracts, and a small donation. The consent package listed an umpire service agreement with Lakeika Voss; independent skating professional contracts for Matt Hoon, Amy Hoon, Brock Hall, Christian Hayes, Diana Tang, Juliana Dehusis and Ariel Dehuis Grama at Swander Ice Arena; and permission to donate four city golf passes to an Indiana Sports Hall of Fame fundraiser. All items on the consent agenda passed by voice vote.
The board also authorized staff to advertise and solicit bids for construction of a new park at Fourth and Main; the department said it will advertise next month and expects to award bids in September, when property access becomes available.
Two change orders for the Next Level Trails Phase 1 project were approved. Deputy Director Paul Bausman told the board the first (Change Order No. 3) — $7,977.10 — covers undercutting and additional stone where soils were unsuitable. The second (Change Order No. 4) — $66,887 — covers electrical work adjacent to the trail: replacement or upgrades to a transformer, panel board, contactors, enclosures and supports to restore lighting and support other park lighting. Bausman said the change-order funding will come from the department's CIP park infrastructure budget.
The board granted permission to install a skateboard repair station on the Greenway near Sunset Park Skate Park. Staff said the small, permanent station would be purchased with dedicated Greenway donation funds; the station would include tethered tools similar to public bike repair stations and the Greenway Advisory Board would work with parks staff on repairs.
The board authorized issuance of a request for proposals (RFP) for lease of the Mesker Park Amphitheater to test market interest; staff said the RFP does not obligate the city to accept any offer.
Finally, the board accepted payroll and vendor claims.
All formal motions were carried by voice vote; the transcript records the board saying "All in favor, say aye" and "Motion carries" without a roll-call tally being read aloud. The transcript does not specify mover and seconder names for each motion.
