Building commission awards multiple demolition contracts, ratifies emergencies; CDBG payback amendment taken under advisement

Delaware St. ($8,600); 1222 Fountain Ave. ($11,384); 1004 N. Garvin St. ($7,800); 519 E. Gum St. ($6,840); and 1200 Harriet St. ($11,450). The board approved the awards by voice vote.
The board also ratified emergency demolitions at 1119 Harriet St. (contractor Hydorn Excavating, $9,250) and 1216 S. Grand Ave. (Hydorn Excavating, $11,740). Josie said both properties had structural failure or immediate hazards that required emergency action; the board approved ratification of the emergency contracts.
Separately, Josie asked the board to approve an amended reimbursement agreement with the Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD) to increase Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) reimbursement for inspector salaries by $43,853.24 (raising the total agreement to $256,188.48). Several board members said they needed more documentation to understand the contract mechanics and timing and asked that the item be taken under advisement and returned at a later meeting with the full contract language. The board voted to take the CDBG reimbursement amendment under advisement and place it on the agenda for a future meeting.
