Wilson County budget committee approves $613,002.66 for Expo Center audio upgrade, plus $30,600 maintenance agreement

Wilson County Budget Committee approved a budget amendment to fund $613,002.66 for sound and related upgrades at the Wilson County Expo Center and a $30,600 addition for a three‑year maintenance agreement, committee members said during a routine meeting.

Aaron, a staff member who presented the item, told the committee, “You got a budget amendment in front of you. Requesting funds for the purchase of sound and navy upgrades for Wilson County, Expo Center. That's $613,002.66. The 30,600, is an addition for, maintenance agreement for 3 3 years.” He said the expenditure would be nonrecurring and funded from the county fund balance.

Aaron said the county's fund balance in January 2024 was about $3,600,000 and that the amendment would reduce that balance to just at or slightly below $3,000,000. Committee members moved and seconded the measure; the chair called for the vote and members responded “aye.” No member voiced opposition during the roll call.

The committee also approved the minutes from its June 16 meeting and later moved to adjourn. During the meeting, Mayor asked staff about a separate road project in front of West Elementary School; a staff member said they would check with TDOT and follow up.
