The Speedway Town Council on Sept. 22 approved Change Order No. 2 for the 205th Street construction project, adding three line items to the contract: base undercut repairs, chemical stabilization of the base and replacement of two storm structures with 12‑inch RCP pipe.
Staff said the undercuts address failed base material on the west portion of the project ($89,810.16), chemical stabilization work is estimated at approximately $95,009.49 and that replacing drainage structures and pipe is estimated at $17,233. The change order total is $202,993.06, bringing the total contract value to approximately $2,000,005.87. The change order also adds more than six working days to the contract schedule.
Town Manager Grant Kleinheinz described progress on the project: initial sections have been reconstructed, undercuts and stabilization are complete in portions and work remains before final asphalt, striping and cleanup. He told the council that final completion depends on suitable dry weather and that staff hopes to complete most remaining work in the coming weeks, though the schedule is weather‑dependent.
Councilors expressed appreciation that significant base repairs were being performed to reduce future failures. The change order passed unanimously, 5-0.
