Warren County commissioners approve ordinance creating Accessibility Coalition

Warren County commissioners voted to adopt Ordinance No. 2025-0707A on a voice vote, creating an Accessibility Coalition intended to coordinate accessibility work across the county and participating municipalities.

The ordinance establishes the coalition as a multi‑member body that will include local officials and community representatives. Commissioners discussed membership composition and a coordinating role for county staff; one commissioner suggested automatic representation for the presidents of the commissioners and council so leadership rotates.

Supporters said the coalition will meet “as needed” and that initial staffing would work through county staff already assigned to ADA matters. The motion to approve the ordinance with amendments was moved and seconded and carried with the board saying “aye.”

The ordinance text discussed at the meeting allows for an ADA coordinator and named positions to serve alongside appointed citizens and officials; commissioners said the measure carries no immediate additional cost and can be signed after the minutes are finalized.

The action follows earlier discussion at the meeting about ADA and Title VI compliance and about adding a language services contract to county budgets. The ordinance will be filed as Ordinance 2025‑0707A with the county clerk.
