Maury County commission approves multiple budget amendments, school and capital appropriations

The Maury County Board of County Commissioners on June 30 approved multiple budget amendments and capital appropriations, including changes to the parks and recreation fund, school budgets and the county capital projects fund. The commission voted unanimously on most items; one school-related amendment passed with one abstention.

The action matters because the votes allocate and reassign millions of dollars across county operations and the school system ahead of the new fiscal year and set a special meeting to ratify the 2025–26 budget.

The commission amended the agenda at the start of the meeting to move most items to the consent agenda, excluding four resolutions identified as affecting fund balance or the schools’ year-end cleanup. That amendment was made by Commissioner Sumners and seconded by Commissioner Pravetti; the amended agenda passed 17–0.
