Veterans center files 30 PACT Act claims, including five first-time filers; Warrior Flight needs RSVPs

Barbara Forman, Veterans Center, told the Community Services Committee that a recent PACT Act event at the center produced 30 filed claims. She said five of those claims were what the VA and the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs termed "diamonds," veterans who had never filed claims before. Forman described those filings as life-changing for the veterans involved.
Forman explained the possible financial impact in broad terms: depending on disability percentage, veterans can receive monthly payments and "if they received a 100%, that could change their life from 0 to 4,000 a month," she said. (That figure was provided by the presenter as an example of maximum potential benefit from a 100% disability rating; the committee did not provide independent verification during the session.)
Forman said about 51 veterans attended a recent resource fair and thanked the programs that participated. She announced a Veteran Family Fun Day on July 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
She also asked committee members to confirm whether they would join an upcoming Warrior Flight scheduled for Sept. 16–19 and said she needs participant numbers to reserve the bus. A committee member asked whether district rosters for the flight had been circulated; Forman said she would send that information.
Committee members thanked the Veterans Center staff; no formal committee action was taken on the report.
