Washington County proclaims July 20–26 Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week

The Washington County Board unanimously adopted a resolution on July 8 proclaiming July 20–26, 2025, as Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week, Community Corrections Director Terry Thomas said.
Thomas presented annual department statistics and asked the board to approve a proclamation recognizing staff who supervise adults and juveniles in the community. He told the board the department served 8,762 clients in the past year, facilitated 42,976 hours of sentence‑to‑service, completed 985 presentence investigations and carried out nearly 3,579 individual cognitive behavioral change interventions.
"Our team supports individuals throughout their journey helping them to get back on track," Thomas said, and asked the board to adopt the proclamation to honor the work of community corrections professionals.
Commissioner Cox moved and Commissioner Claussen seconded the resolution. The board approved the proclamation by roll call: Commissioner Miron, Aye; Commissioner Cox, Aye; Commissioner Begum, Aye; Commissioner Claussen, Aye; Commissioner Kawasaki, Aye. The chair declared the resolution passed 5–0.
Board members praised community corrections staff for their contributions to public safety and rehabilitative services and said the proclamation should reinforce the department’s role in county public safety efforts.
