Ramsey County awards 2025 State Affordable Housing Aid funds; program continues at reduced level

County staff said SAHA is part of local governmental aid established by the Minnesota Legislature and that the program will continue, but at a reduced funding level compared with earlier years. Staff estimated SAHA funding for 2025 at about $338,000 for the county.
Why it matters: SAHA grants support local affordable-housing development and are a tool counties use to meet goals for producing affordable units. Commissioners thanked staff for the application review and selection process.
Commissioner Jeong noted the HRA will perform final approvals for specific developments and thanked staff for narrowing many applications to the awarded projects. A county staff member identified as Max told the board the funding will continue in future fiscal years at a reduced roughly $338,000 annual level and that the awards help the county meet affordable-housing goals.
The board recorded its acknowledgment and support; the HRA will return with full approvals and project details.
What comes next: HRA staff will bring the awarded projects back for final approval and staff said they will continue to administer SAHA funds in coming fiscal years at the reduced funding level.
