County approves $8,000 amendment to public-works facility master-planning contract

Nicollet County commissioners on June 24 approved the second amendment to the phase 1 master-planning contract for a public works facility study, increasing CNM Construction Consultants’ fee by $8,000.
County staff said the board originally approved agreements on Aug. 27, 2024, with CNM Construction Consultants to assist with the request for proposal and master planning and with BR Construction and Consulting LLC (BRCC) to assist with design-team selection and site evaluation. On Dec. 17, 2024, the board approved adding Julie Taylor to CNM’s team as an independent contractor; that earlier change did not increase the contract rate.
Staff explained the current amendment increases CNM’s fee from $43,890 to $51,890 because CNM took on additional work drafting the RFP and shifting scope from BRCC to CNM as the project progressed. The amendment includes tasks tied to statutory-compliance review of the RFP. The packet noted approximately $73 remained in CNM’s prior contract balance before this amendment.
After discussion and a motion, commissioners approved the amendment by voice vote.
Ending: Staff said Brunton (the selected architect noted in the packet) will take the lead in the coming months on the design phase, which is expected to reduce the owner representatives’ workload; no additional funding beyond this amendment was approved on the record.
