County construction manager Austin of ICS told the board that Level 2 of the Government Center renovation has reached substantial completion and owner furniture move-in is underway, and that Level 1 renovation work will begin the following week.
Austin said inspections were complete and move-in on the second level was expected to finish that week. "We did reach substantial completion. Bridal inspections were completed, and owner furniture move in has been underway," Austin said. He provided progress photos showing finished carpeting, lights, painted drywall and cabinetry on Level 2.
Work on the west-side additions is advancing: site removals and soil corrections were completed, excavations for deep footings were done and concrete footings were being formed with a pour scheduled for Wednesday. Austin said a temporary sally port on the north side and a temporary egress on the east side are operational.
Schedule details provided by Austin and staff: Level 1 renovations are slated June through September; lobby, records and sheriff's office work is planned for January–April 2026; housing units and booking renovations are planned June 2025–September 2026; and the new garage and sally port are expected to be completed by June 2026. Environmental Services and GIS will move to new upstairs locations in the schedule described by staff; property records will move on the Monday following the meeting.
A staff speaker clarified access changes for the Sheriff's administrative entrance, which will be routed through the social services entrance starting at noon on the day of the meeting.
There were no formal votes tied specifically to this update; it was an informational construction progress report to the board.
