Councilmember Povrowski (spelled in the transcript sometimes as Prodowski/Porowski) echoed Yang’s points and framed the change as a way to help struggling small businesses expand revenue and adapt, noting the measure could be a proactive tool for economic recovery.
Councilmember Johnson also praised the outreach and follow-up from the business owners, including a memo on safety planning and direct communications with district councils and neighbors.
The ordinance followed a public hearing in the ward the prior week. Council recorded a 7–0 vote in favor and adopted the ordinance for final implementation.
The council did not add conditions beyond those already submitted in public testimony; staff and councilmembers noted they expect the business to follow its safety plan and remain responsive to neighbors.
