The Inver Grove Heights City Council on July 18 made several routine approvals and one appointment during a meeting that also included extensive public comment.
The council voted to add a temporary off-site gambling permit for the Spartan End Zone Club to the agenda and then approved the permit for a raffle and pull-tabs for an event on July 26 at Veterans Memorial Community Center. Clerk Kiernan presented the permit application and staff recommended approval.
During the public-hearing portion of the agenda, the council approved a new body art establishment license for Nature of Beauty, to be located at 5565 Blaine Avenue, Suite 250, after staff advised the application was complete and qualified.
The council appointed Community Development Director Zemer as the city’s representative to the MSP Noise Oversight Committee, filling an at-large municipal seat that is typically staffed by either an elected official or a staff member. Administrator Wilson explained the committee’s focus is largely on runway usage, complaint monitoring and communication with residents.
On the consent agenda, the council approved multiple routine items and separately approved a resolution concerning a wetland replacement plan for Veterans Memorial Greenway; the council requested a correction to the meeting minutes to identify Dakota County Soil and Water correspondence correctly.
All motions noted in the meeting record were carried with no recorded opposition during the meeting’s verbal roll call of “aye/any opposed.” The meeting record does not include roll-call tallies by council member name.
