Furpel said the group has 40 participants in its program and planned outreach to high-school students, including scholarship support for seniors. Commissioners approved the waiver by motion.
Kizzie Boswell requested a fee waiver for a Back-to-School Bash at the Douglas Brown Community Center. Boswell said the Fort Veil Youth Service had collected about 500 backpacks and would provide health screenings and free haircuts; commissioners approved the waiver unanimously.
Delvin Lewis appeared on behalf of an event organized with SGN Management and others — described as a football clinic and family fun day featuring several vendors and possible NFL alumni — seeking a fee waiver and permission for outdoor amplified music. Staff noted existing county ordinances regulating amplified sound; commissioners approved the request and required coordination with law enforcement for security and compliance with any noise regulations.
