Resident urges Largo to add three‑way stop, citing repeated crashes on 20th Street SW

During public comment at the July 15 meeting, resident Doug Brown urged the commission to press Pinellas County or the appropriate traffic authority to add a three-way stop or other traffic-management changes on 20th Street Southwest (between Eighth Avenue and West Bay), an area he said is frequently used by speeders and has a history of crashes.
Brown said the stretch of road — which residents have nicknamed the "Drag Strip" — has had multiple accidents and unsafe passing where double yellow lines are no longer visible. He said resurfacing of the road is scheduled for October but asked that the resurfacing be moved earlier if possible because of safety concerns. Brown said he had provided the commission with photographs documenting recent incidents.
Staff response and next steps The city manager was not present when the resident spoke; staff said they would add the request to the city manager report and coordinate with county and state District 7 traffic staff as appropriate. Brown said he had spoken with District 7 representatives and the county but asked the commission to press the issue.
